Answer
The Housing Executive’s business case recommending demolition of the two tower blocks in Belvoir was approved by my Department in June 2022.
There has been good progress in rehousing the tenants and reacquiring the sold flats, and the Housing Executive is still on track to meet its anticipated clearance timescale of June 2025.
Documents have been prepared to procure professional services to develop a demolition scheme and will soon go out to tender.
The Housing Executive remains on track to have the two blocks cleared and demolition started on site in 2025/ 26.
It is the intention to redevelop the site for social housing. A development brief is being prepared for the site.
