Answer
Monitoring of the Active Travel spend within the Department is not broken down by parliamentary constituency. The South Belfast constituency falls within the Eastern Division.
The cycling infrastructure priority in Belfast is the delivery of the Belfast Cycling Network which amounted to a spend of approximately £0.5m in 2023/24, and grants were awarded for approximately £0.5m to the Belfast City Council for active travel and greenway schemes.
Budgets for the 2024-25 financial year have not yet been set. Once the outcome of the budget settlement is known I will then consider funding for active travel in the context of my Department’s overall budget, taking into consideration factors such as other competing priorities, legislative requirements and delivery capacity.
