To ask the Minister for Communities, given rising food costs, what considerations are provided in the welfare benefits system to people living with medical conditions, such as Cystic Fibrosis, which require the person specifically to eat a high calorie diet.

I have written to Thérèse Coffey MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions requesting an uplift to benefits in line with inflation.

I am deeply frustrated that the lack of a functioning Executive and agreed budget prevents any further cost of living support measures being introduced. However, I remain determined that my Department will continue to deliver support for those who are in need and I have tasked my officials to fully explore and expedite all options to address both the immediate needs of, and medium to longer term solutions to, the cost of living crisis.
