Answer

While CO2 monitors are currently fitted in a number of schools in Northern Ireland, mainly in science laboratories, no decision has yet been made regarding the widespread provision of monitors to schools in Northern Ireland.

Departmental officials and the EA are continuing to explore and examine the merits of a broader roll-out of CO2 monitors, the outworking of which will inform my decision on whether to proceed with a broader roll-out, or to maintain the current approach.

The EA is also examining the procurement timescales and availability of CO2 monitors for wider deployment as necessary and I intend to bid for additional Capital Funding to ensure there are no financial impediments to a broader roll-out, if that is the best solution.
