Answer
It is not known how many people in Northern Ireland have been admitted to hospital because of incidents involving e-scooters, as there is no specific coding relating to e-scooter accidents in the current clinical coding version (ICD-10). However, we are able to provide the number of admissions to NI hospitals from the past five financial years as a result of similar motor vehicle injuries. I trust this information will be useful.
Admissions for pedestrians and pedal cyclists injured by 2- or 3-wheeled motor vehicles or other unspecified transport accidents from 2016/17 to 2020/21
| 2016/17 | 2017/18 | 2018/19 | 2019/20 | 2020/21 | |
| Admissions | 65 | 65 | 62 | 55 | 51 |
