Answer
Since the Northern Ireland Climate Commissioner Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 came into force in April 2025, work has been progressing on the establishment of the Northern Ireland Climate Commissioner.
This work includes development of the business case; consideration of staffing, accommodation and office infrastructure; and preparation of the documentation required to run a public appointments process in accordance with the CPANI Code of Practice.
It is intended that the public appointment competition will be launched once the preparatory steps are complete, with a Commissioner appointed on its conclusion.
