Answer

£4.7 million rate relief support was provided to amateur sports clubs during 2023/24.

80% Sports and Recreation Rate Relief is provided for premises that are:

occupied for the purposes of a prescribed recreation;

occupied by a not-for-profit club or society; and

occupied by a club or society that does not employ any person to engage in any recreation for reward.

This relief applies to the parts of the property used solely for a prescribed recreation.

Community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) which do not have a full licence to sell alcohol, have access to increased relief of up to 100% for the qualifying sport and recreation areas within the club premises.

I have no plans at this time to extend the Sports and Recreation Rate Relief.
