Answer

Communications regarding changes to local services are primarily a matter for individual Health and Social Care Trusts. Trusts use a variety of communication channels including consultation exercises, direct engagement, on-line information, and media releases to reach their population. In doing so, they take account of their legislative requirements to involve and consult. These local communications are supported by regional messaging as required.

With regard to general surgery in particular, my Department continues to work closely with Trusts as they implement the actions from Review of General Surgery.
