Answer
User research is underway with under 16s and parents / guardians, to update the app to allow under 16s to use the app for travel certificates
Those aged 16, or older, are able to apply for a NI Direct account (needed to confirm identity) and access the COVIDCert NI app & travel certificates.
In the interim, an update to the COVID Certification Scheme is scheduled for 1st February that will provide parents and guardians with an option to apply for a certificate ‘on behalf of’ a dependent aged 17 or younger. Certification to prove vaccination or recovery status will be provided in pdf form and the documentation may be downloaded, stored and displayed on a smart phone. Paper version will also be available through the COVIDCert helpline.
