Answer

We are continually seeking to drive improvements in the delivery of thrombolysis through the application of a Quality Improvement methodology.

Thrombolysis rates are reported on a quarterly basis through the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme audit. In addition, the Health and Social Care Board monitors thrombolysis rates on a monthly basis. This information is used by Quality Improvement Leads to identify areas for improvement within all Trusts on an ongoing basis. This approach has also led to actions such as the rerunning of the Face Arms Speech Time campaign to encourage individuals experiencing symptoms of stroke to dial 999 and access emergency services.
