Answer

The number of patients currently on waiting lists for surgery for Endometriosis is not held centrally; HSC Trusts were approached for this information. Due to differences in the methods of recording within each HSC Trust, some could provide the data whilst others could not, as follows:

Northern HSC Trust indicated that this information could not be extracted without disproportionate cost.

Western HSC Trust indicated that their Endometriosis patients are added to the Gynaecology waiting list rather than one specific to Endometriosis.

Belfast HSC Trust indicated that they had 239 patients on an Endometriosis waiting list as at 30th March 2021; these patients range from the most mild to most severe cases and could therefore be awaiting minor procedures as well as complicated excision of Endometriosis.

At 30th March 2021, 85 patients were waiting for Endometriosis surgery in the South Eastern HSC Trust.

Southern HSC Trust could not provide a response within the specified deadline.
