Answer

Following the implementation of the pop up cycle lanes in and around Dublin Road, my Department is undertaking a review to draw out lessons learned from their implementation. A questionnaire is being publicised and I would encourage stakeholders to make their views known so that we can roll out active travel infrastructure more effectively across the city.

To date my Department’s interventions regarding the Open Ormeau Initiative has been focussed on the relocation of bus shelters in order to assist with social distancing measures. My Department will consult with all local stakeholders, in line with legislative requirements, before any decisions are taken regarding the wider Open Ormeau proposals including the installation of cycle parking which is timetabled for this summer.
