Parental Responsibility is defined in legislation under Article 6(1) of The Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 as ‘all the rights, duties, powers, responsibilities and authority which by law a parent of a child has in relation to the child and his property’.
As this definition is based in legislation, it should be used by any organisation referring to parental responsibility.
