Answer
As pension taxation is a reserved matter, I - along with the Minister of Finance - have written to the UK Government highlighting the serious harm being felt across HSC by the loss of capacity and the impact delayed or cancelled clinics are having on the long-term health and well-being of the population, due to the effect of the HMRC Annual Allowance tax charge.
Furthermore, I shall urge that serious and immediate consideration be given to the outcome of an HMRC review of Annual Allowance, the results of which are expected on 11 March.
I will await the outcome of the HMRC review before considering what steps to take to address the difficulties caused locally by the Annual Allowance tax charges.
